Soccer Injuries
Helping Soccer Athletes Get Back to the Game They Love
At just 15 years old, Matt was an active soccer player who had been dealing with back pain for nearly a year. What started as occasional discomfort became significantly worse after he took a hard hit during a soccer match.
By the time Matt came to Macomb Township Chiropractic, his pain was affecting both his soccer performance and his everyday life.
Finding the Source of Matt’s Back Pain
After a thorough consultation and chiropractic examination, Dr. Chris performed spinal X-rays to evaluate Matt’s spinal structure and alignment.
The examination revealed several areas of spinal misalignment that could be contributing to his symptoms. Combined with the physical demands and impact associated with competitive soccer, these findings helped Dr. Chris develop a customized approach to address Matt’s individual needs.
Rather than focusing solely on temporary pain relief, the goal was to improve spinal function, mobility, stability, and posture while helping Matt return to the activities he enjoyed.
Customized Chiropractic Care for a Young Soccer Player
Matt began a customized care plan that included chiropractic adjustments and postural rehabilitation.
His care was designed around his specific condition, activity level, and goals. The objective was to help improve spinal alignment and movement while addressing the structural and functional issues identified during his examination.
For young athletes, maintaining proper movement and spinal function can be especially important because their bodies are continually adapting to training, competition, repetitive movements, and physical contact.
Four Months Later: Matt Was Pain-Free
After approximately four months of consistent care, Matt returned to our office for follow-up X-rays and an evaluation of his progress.
His follow-up X-rays demonstrated measurable structural improvement. Even more importantly, Matt reported that his pain had completely resolved.
His pain levels had gone from:
- Mid/upper back: 5/10 → 0/10
- Low back: 6–7/10 → 0/10
- Hip and leg discomfort → 0/10
Matt was excited to get back to soccer and resume his normal activities without the limitations he had experienced before beginning care.
Back Pain Shouldn't Keep Young Athletes Off the Field
Soccer places significant physical demands on the body. Repetitive running, kicking, twisting, sudden changes in direction, falls, collisions, and awkward landings can all contribute to stress on the muscles and joints of the back, hips, and legs.
Young athletes can also experience problems related to repetitive training, overuse, poor movement patterns, or previous injuries.
If your child is experiencing soccer-related back pain, neck pain, hip pain, stiffness, or other musculoskeletal discomfort, a thorough evaluation can help determine what may be contributing to the problem.
At Macomb Township Chiropractic, Dr. Chris works with athletes and active individuals to evaluate spinal structure, movement, and function and develop individualized care plans based on their needs.
