Frozen Shoulder

Ramiro came into our office struggling with severe shoulder, neck, and back pain that was affecting nearly every aspect of his life. His primary concern was his frozen shoulder, which first started after a work injury, and had become so debilitating that he could barely lift his left arm more than a few inches.  Reaching overhead was impossible, making it extremely difficult for him to perform his job and complete everyday tasks and perform at work. In addition to his shoulder pain, Ramiro was also dealing with persistent neck and back discomfort for over a year. Even sleep became a challenge, as he couldn’t lie on his left side without significant pain.

During his initial visit, Dr. Chris performed a thorough consultation and took chiropractic X-rays. The imaging revealed multiple misalignment in Ramiro’s neck and spine, which were contributing to his symptoms and limiting his body’s ability to heal properly. Based on these findings, Ramiro was placed on a personalized care plan designed to address the root cause of his condition.

His treatment plan included regular chiropractic adjustments of the neck, upper back and shoulder, to restore proper alignment, reduce inflammation, and encourage healing, spinal decompression using our state-of-the-art equipment to relieve nerve pressure, and postural rehabilitation to strengthen and support long-term correction. Ramiro committed to his care plan, and the results were remarkable.

After just six months of consistent care, Ramiro experienced significant improvement. His shoulder, neck, and back pain are now mostly gone, and his mobility has been fully restored. His pain level numbers went from 9’s (on a scale from 1-10), down to zero’s. He can lift his arm well above his head without any pain—something that once seemed impossible. Today, Ramiro is back to work and enjoying his daily life again, feeling better than ever.

His story is a powerful reminder of how targeted chiropractic care can help the body heal and restore function naturally.

What is Frozen Shoulder?

Frozen Shoulder (also known as Adhesive capsulitis) is a condition where the shoulder joint becomes stiff, painful, and difficult to move. This happens when the tissue around a joint becomes thicker and tighter, sometimes forming sticky areas that make it hard to move the joint normally. Symptoms typically develop gradually, starting with pain and progressing to significant loss of mobility. It can make everyday activities like reaching, lifting, or even sleeping uncomfortable. Frozen shoulder often develops after injury, overuse, or periods of immobility, and may take months to fully resolve without proper care.

What are the Symptoms of Frozen Shoulder?

Symptoms typically include persistent shoulder pain and stiffness that gradually worsen over time. Many people experience a limited range of motion, making it difficult to lift the arm, reach overhead, or perform daily tasks. Pain is often worse at night, which can disrupt sleep—especially when lying on the affected side. As the condition progresses, the shoulder may feel “frozen,” with very restricted movement and ongoing discomfort.

What Kind of Problems Arise from Frozen Shoulder?

Severe, chronic pain, muscle weakness and atrophy in the shoulder, additional strain in the neck, back, and opposite shoulder, severe mobility restrictions, reduced quality of life, poor sleep, fatigue, and reduced quality of life because of the inability to perform everyday tasks such as brushing hair, getting dressed, or driving.

How Does Chiropractic Help?

Chiropractic care can help by improving joint function and reducing tension throughout the body. Gentle adjustments to the spine and shoulder can help restore proper alignment, which relieves stress on the joint, nerves, and surrounding muscles. Chiropractors often incorporate soft tissue therapy, stretching, and mobility exercises to improve range of motion and decrease stiffness. By addressing underlying imbalances and supporting natural healing, chiropractic care can help reduce pain, improve movement, and speed up recovery.

Growing up in Metro Detroit Michigan in a medical family, with both his mother and father working as registered nurses, Dr. Chris always knew he wanted to go into the medical profession. After recovering from a severe auto accident while he was in high school, in which he fractured both of his arms, several fingers and his leg, and had to undergo extensive surgeries and physical therapy. That is when Dr. Chris decided to go to Wayne State University to become a physical therapist.

At the same time Dr. Chris was going to Wayne State University to become a physical therapist he was introduced to chiropractic care by a high school friend who was going to Life University to become a chiropractor.  Since starting under chiropractic care, the chronic sinus infections he used to experience on a monthly basis now happen rarely, and at that time he became a chiropractic believer and converted. That’s when he changed his college major from physical therapy to chiropractic.

Dr. Chris graduated from Life University in Marietta Georgia in 2002 and has dedicated his life to helping the people of Macomb County Michigan achieve natural and safe health and healing through chiropractic rehab and disc decompression therapy.
