Alonzo got a full consultation and Chiropractic x-rays at his first visit with us, and Dr. Chris immediately found multiple areas in his spine which were misaligned. These misalignments were causing serious pressure on the nerves coming out of his neck to his shoulders and back which were contributing to his pain. Zo listed his pain levels on his consultation sheet as 7’s out of 10.  Dr. Chris put Zo on a care plan specific to his needs which included regular Chiropractic adjustments, neck and back decompression on our state-of-the art disc decompression table, postural rehabilitation (to correct the shape of his spine), muscle gun stimulation, and heat and ice therapy.

After just a few short weeks, Alonzo’s x-rays showed improvement and he noted he was feeling better. He was able to return to work and to most of his normal activities. Six months later, Zo stated he felt “totally better” and it was the first time in a long time he was able to move his shoulders and arms above his head. His pain levels had decreased down to 1’s and zeros across the board, and Zo said it was the best decision he’s made to come into our office and see Dr. Chris.

What causes Shoulder Pain?

Shoulder pain can be a debilitating condition that can affect even the simplest of daily tasks. It usually originates from poor posture, muscle strain, repetitive motions, herniated discs, misalignment’s, or pinched nerves. Heavy lifting or sudden movements can aggravate discs in the spine and muscles. Excessive sitting or slouching can cause poor posture which puts the spine in an unnatural position, causing pinched nerves. Falls, sports injuries, or other trauma can also cause upper back and shoulder pain.

What are the Symptoms of Shoulder Pain?

Symptoms can include: sharp or dull pain, stiffness, muscle spasms, weakness or inability to raise ones arms, numbness in arms or hands, or radiating pain. Pain can also be aching or cramping in the area and throughout the shoulders and arms, as well as throbbing, or burning. Limited range of motion can be not only in the shoulder areas, but throughout the neck.

What Kind of Problems Arise from Shoulder Pain?

Problems that may arise from Shoulder pain include: developing poor posture, straining muscles from improper use of the back and shoulders, stiffness, shoulder instability, difficulty with simple daily tasks, difficulty sleeping, weakness, and chronic pain. Your mental health can also be affected as well as your overall well-being.

How Does Chiropractic Help?

With Chiropractic adjustments, nerve pressure is relieved and muscle and joint mobility increases. Blood flow and circulation also increases, which promotes overall healing and proper function. Correcting the alignment of the spine not only reduces pinched nerves, but reduces muscle tension and pain.

After recovering from a severe auto accident while he was in high school, in which he fractured both of his arms, several fingers and his leg, and had to undergo extensive surgeries and physical therapy. That is when Dr. Chris decided to go to Wayne State University to become a physical therapist.

At the same time Dr. Chris was going to Wayne State University to become a physical therapist he was introduced to chiropractic care by a high school friend who was going to Life University to become a chiropractor.  Since starting under chiropractic care, the chronic sinus infections he used to experience on a monthly basis now happen rarely, and at that time he became a chiropractic believer and converted. That’s when he changed his college major from physical therapy to chiropractic.

Dr. Chris graduated from Life University in Marietta Georgia in 2002 and has dedicated his life to helping the people of Macomb County Michigan achieve natural and safe health and healing through chiropractic rehab and disc decompression therapy.
